Tuesday 24th February - walks ***** – Felixstowe Woolverstone to Pin Mill – sunny periods and mild.

Walk 1 – Felixstowe Ferry.

Mag went on her early morning walk and got a glimpse of the sun as it broke the horizon but mainly cloudy, then I checked out of our back bedroom window at 7.30 and there was bands of cool clouds across the sky looking really lovely so I decided to head out in the van to take some weather pics. Down to the pier first where the sky truly was amazing so I continued onto Felixstowe Ferry for the first time in several days. With the tide low and the wind light there was some nice reflections as I walked around the boatyard. Then home to sort out my pics and discuss our plans for the day, We are seeing Mary tomorrow this week so were free to have a picnic somewhere and the sun had made an appearance so it looked promising! We quickly agreed that we could drive over to Woolverstone Marina to get a bottle of gas for our up and coming trip to the French Mountains in March!

Walk 2 – Woolverstone Marina to Pin Mill.

I managed my exercises before packing a picnic and drove over the Orwell Bridge taking the Shotley road to Woolverstone Marina where we bought the gas from two really nice men, you have to walk up some steps to pay and get a terrific view of the marina below with the impressive bridge to the right! I ask if we can park for our walk downriver to Pin Mill and they said we were fine to leave our van in their carpark:) We put our wellies on as we knew the footpath would be very muddy which it was. We walked past the Royal Harwich Sailing Club which leads to the river path through the trees, then you leave the woods walk past the houseboat and arrive at Pin Mill. The tide was very low so we walked right out on the hard to the middle of the Orwell where some workmen were clearing the mud off the dock for old barges to tie up to to work to be done! We then carried on past the many houseboats leading to the famous boat graveyard where I walked out into the mud to take a few pics! Then back to the green to enjoy our picnic with lovely views over the Orwell! I was then back the way we came to the van spotting two deer on the way! After Maeva had spent two worrying nights in hospital she is now at home and was keen to see us but she was napping so we went home for a cuppa before going round to visit her with her mum and had a lovely couple of hours with Maeva looking better even though she still has a bad chesty cough but hopefully she is on the mend now!
